ARE THESE WORKS FOR SALE?

WHY DID THE ARTIST NOT EXHIBIT ANY OF HER WORKS AFTER 1976?

After her last exhibition in Milan in 1976, the artist directed all her energies towards her religious studies and thought it immoral to sell her works to those who did not fully subscribe to her spiritual beliefs. Because of this, it is fair to say that she alienated many people which in turn caused immense frustration to those of us who respected, yet did not necessarilly share, these beliefs.

ARE THERE PLANS FOR ANY FUTURE EXHIBITIONS?

No. Before she died, the artist expressed her desire that none of her works should be sold through commercial galleries for a period of ten years after her death. Her reasoning behind this decision is perhaps beyond the scope of what is written here and no matter what we may think of her request, we have no choice but to honour it until mid-2017. Even then, as things stand, it is unlikely that we would work with commercial galleries to any great extent though of course, this is by no means cast in stone. Though the collection has no doubt generated a substantial amount of interest from dealers in the United States and Europe we have to offset what we consider a fair price for the works with the traditional 50/50 split that most galleries command. This may have been different if we had an unlimited amount of works at our disposal, but we do not. Therefore, at this moment in time and for the foreseeable future, it is perhaps best that potential buyers deal with the artist’s foundation directly. In any case, and after all being said, we are ourselves an art gallery (albeit a relatively small one) and we have the capacity to display over a hundred items from the collection at any given time.

ARE THE WORKS PRESENTED ON THIS SITE A TRUE REFLECTION OF HOW THEY ACTUALLY LOOK IN “REAL LIFE”?

The traditional problem of optimization when building an art website is all too common, and this site is no exception. The quality of the reproductions has to accomodate reasonable download times, and as a result, some of the works presented do not appear as bright or as colourful as what they really are. We have used the optimization function in Adobe Fireworks to reach a compromise though of course, the works are best viewed in person. We invite anyone with a genuine interest to visit us in London to see for themselves the real quality of what we have displayed here.

CAN WE REVIEW SPECIFIC WORKS BEFORE VISITING?

Yes. We are happy to send larger, more detailed pictures (in jpeg format) of any of the works featured on this site.

CAN THE IMAGES BE DOWNLOADED FOR PRIVATE USE?

IS THERE A CATALOGUE OF BRUNA X’S WORK AVAILABLE?

Yes. An 88 page catalogue, containing 120 illustrations (63 in full colour) is available from the foundation for £8.50/€10.00/$15.00 including postage & packaging

AS THE ARTIST IS ITALIAN, WHY IS MOST OF THIS SITE WRITTEN IN ENGLISH?

An Italian version of the site is important to us, and we are building it gradually, with completion scheduled for no later that the first week of December. The delay is chiefly down to the fact that we were unhappy with the Italian translation of the English text that we originally commissioned. In the meantime, a 20-page booklet containing Italian translations of the two detailed commentaries featured in the Bruna X catalogue (together with additional pictures) will, on request, be sent free of charge to anyone who purchases a catalogue.
